Trollin’ for Pollin’

It’s early May, and I am already fed up with Trump-endorsed candidates and the flood of out-of-state PAC money sponsoring their commercials. Any candidate tethered to that endorsement shouldn’t take victory for granted. It is ironic that they expect Indiana voters to be as pliable as the MAGA base elsewhere, especially since Indiana’s GOP super-majority previously resisted pressure from Trump to manipulate our congressional districts.

The commercials label these candidates as “Good Republicans,” a title Trump himself could scarcely claim. Fiscally responsible? Hardly. I find it startling that center-right officeholders still cling to this administration’s sinking ship, seemingly eager to drown while clutching DJT’s slippery coat tails.

These ads grate on everyone’s nerves, but commercials can only do so much. Working the polls in urban Indianapolis provides a different perspective: a tale of fortitude and determination. Many citizens arriving to vote during the afternoon were elderly or physically challenged. They fought their way to the polls regardless of the obstacles. As one gentleman told me, “We gotta get some changes made!”

All the out-of-town money in the world can’t stop that kind of resolve.
